This weekend, Xallas Electricidad y Aleaciones, XEAL, began the start-up of Furnace 14 to produce Silicomanganese at its plant in Cee and take advantage of a demand opportunity currently offered by the market.
In 2021, the silico-manganese furnaces underwent a major transformation, as work was carried out on adapting and expanding their environmental control systems, in line with the EU requirements for industrial facilities of these characteristics.
These investments, in excess of €1.5 M, are part of the future plan announced by the company to invest €14 M in the ferroalloys division over the next five years, in line with its four strategic axes: Maximum commitment to health and safety in the performance of its workers' activities; respect for the environment and compliance with environmental regulations; long-term care and maintenance of assets; and improvement of efficiency and productivity to be increasingly competitive. Since the entry of the new shareholders, the company has invested €10.3M, €6.1M of which have been invested in the ferroalloys division and €4.2 M in the energy division. In particular, more than €2M has been invested in environmental protection.
