XEAL has allocated more than  €120,000  to boosting local commerce through a number of initiatives

Over the last two years, Xallas Electricidad y Aleaciones, XEAL, has allocated more than €120,000  to the revitalization of local commerce, through various initiatives with which it intends to show its commitment to the environment in which the company is located. In all of them, economic or material contributions were replaced by vouchers redeemable at establishments of Cee and Dumbría participating in the initiatives, pursuing the dual objective of reaching the beneficiaries in a way that best meets their needs, while boosting the local economic fabric.

In this regard, worthy of mention is theDOA €X€ program, which the company kept in force for most of2020. In this case, the collaboration of XEAL employees was requested, who made donations for the most needy people in the area, with the company committing to contributing double the total collected by the workers. All these donations were transformed into shopping vouchers that were distributed, according to the needs identified through their Social Services, by the Cee and Dumbría local authorities, as well as by Cáritas and the Red Cross.

One of the establishments that participated in this program was Carnicería Valentín, whose managers emphasize that "it is an excellent initiative; ot only for the beneficiaries, who will welcome it, but also for the local retail trade.  In our establishment, people understood the dynamics very well and bought all kinds of items, meats and cold cuts. And it has the advantage that they can manage it according to their needs. We will certainly participate in future initiatives. It's been a very positive experience. 

The same system was used by the company in the Smile for Christmasprogram, which this year celebrates its second edition with the aim of ensuring that no child in the area is left without Christmas gifts. Similarly, vouchers redeemable at local stores were provided to the winners of the Christmas card competition launched by the company on the same dates.

Also this year, XEAL replaced the traditional Christmas hamperswhich the company gives to current and retired employees (retirees and widows), withvouchers redeemable at local stores, for the same value as in previous years, averaging over €160, to a total of 631 beneficiaries.

In this sense, Alberto Lado, head of Milar Electrodomésticos, in Cee, also highlighted the importance of this type of action: "They serve to extend the possibilities of many small businesses, to counteract the weight of large supermarkets and online commerce. In addition, customers have the opportunity to spend it on whatever they prefer. Here we have redeemed vouchers for everything from hairdryers to fridges and washing machines. For a large company like XEAL to support local commerce is fundamental. Let's hope they continue to do so.
