• The company opens H22 due to increased market demand
  • The company has one again demonstrated its flexibility to meet market demand

Xallas Electricidad y Aleaciones, XEAL, reactivated Furnace 22 in Dumbría at the beginning of February to expand the capacity to manufacture ferrosilicon, due to the increase in market demand for this alloy.

In this sense, the company is once again adapting to market demand, as it has been doing over the last few months, and is starting up its three ferrosilicon furnaces.

The opening of Furnace 22 and its start-up meant that 30 of the company's employees were taken out of the furlough scheme, taking advantage of the peak demand that is expected to last for the next few months.

XEAL, in line with its strategy, is taking advantage of market opportunities, manufacturing when there is demand and adjusting when demand is low, showing its firm commitment to making the best possible decisions to remain competitive in the long term.

The company, in keeping with its commitment to  its four strategic pillars: safety, environment, care of assets, and efficiency and effectiveness, continues to move forward with its investment plan, despite the complicated situation.

María Couto, XEAL's CEO, stated that "although the market situation is very complicated on a global level, we must take advantage of this increase in demand for ferroalloys and adapt production while the desired sustained recovery arrives".

"We will produce when there is demand and continue with our investment plan; it is the best possible strategy to be competitive and sustainable," explained the company's CEO.
