XEAL, Xallas Electricidad y Aleaciones, in collaboration with ITHAKA, has donated 9,000 special protection gowns to the Galician Health Service (SERGAS). These certified garments will be delivered to the SERGASlogistics platform in Negreira. In total, 10,000 units have been produced to be donated to the regional government; a further 1,000 have already been delivered to the Virxe da Xunqueira Hospital in Cee.

XEAL and ITHAKA reached a collaboration agreement with GOCOTEX, specialized in the manufacture of protective clothing that is waterproof, breathable and with heat sealing that guarantees water tightness, and with CURTANA, a clothing manufacturer located in  Santiago de Compostela.

The production of these safety garments for Galician public health workers started a few days ago, after the acceptance of the donation was confirmed by the regional government. Between 1,500 and 2,000 protective gowns have been manufactured daily in order to ensure prompt delivery.

Executive director Alejandro Seco explained that

"We all need to continue working together to mitigate the effects of this health and economic crisis."

This initiative is part of a series of actions that XEAL has carried out to contribute to tackling the global coronavirus epidemic.
